What is PMP?

PMP is an acronym for Project Management Professionals. The PMP qualification is evidence of your experience and of your ability to lead and direct projects.

Does the PMP course have prerequisites?

Although the PMP exam has prerequisites, our training does not. The following gives an overview of the PMP exam prerequisites

  • > A secondary degree (high school diploma, associate’s degree or the global equivalent)
  • > 7,500 hours leading and directing projects
  • > 35 hours of project management education
    OR
  • > Four-year degree
  • > 4,500 hours leading and directing projects
  • > 35 hours of project management education

If you do not meet these requirements, you can do either of the following:

  • > Enrol for the PRINCE2 training and exam: PRINCE2 training and exam. The PRINCE2 qualification is a globally recognised qualification for project managers. The PRINCE2 certification is in two stages; PRINCE2 Foundation and PRINCE2 Practitioner. Taking the Foundation exam does not require any prerequisites. Also, taking the PRINCE2 Practitioner exam only requires that you have a PRINCE2 Foundation or PMP certification.

  • Enrol for the CAPM: The CAPM is a project management certification by PMI that is not as demanding as PMP. The prerequisites for the CAPM exam include:
    • > A secondary diploma (high school diploma/global equivalent)
    • > 1,500 hours of professional experience on a project team OR 23 hours of project management education.

What certification levels does the course cover?

The project management qualification by PMI is in two levels. Firstly, Certified Associate in Project Management, secondly, Project Management Professional (PMP).

At Harrybaker, our PMP training covers the two PMI project management qualification courses which are CAPM and PMP.

  • > CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) is designed for individuals entering into the project management.
  • > PMP (Project Management Professional) is designed for professionals with a minimum of 3 years experience in project management.

All that you will learn are aligned with PMI’s A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK guide).

How do I register for the exam?

  • To register for the PMP exam, you will have to, first of all, create an account with Project Management Institute  To do this, go to www.pmi.org click on register at the top right-hand corner of the webpage, provide basic information about yourself, then create a username and password for your account.  
  • After creating an account, log in using your username and password. Then, apply for the PMP or CAPM credential on your page.
  • Fill out the application and submit. Your application can either be approved, selected for audit or not
  • If your application is approved, you will be asked to pay the exam fees.

What is the PMP training (classroom) about?

The PMP classroom training is an instructor-led classroom training that equips you with the knowledge of project management and prepares you for the PMP/CAPM examination.

What will I learn if I enroll for the PMP training?

How many days is the training?

Our public classes last for 4 days. However, the 4 days can be extended for organisations interested in having more learning time.

When time does the training start each day?

Our PMP training starts at 8:30 am daily. If otherwise, this will be disclosed to you in the joining instruction.

When does the training end each day?

Our PMP training ends at 5:00 pm daily. However,  if otherwise, it will be disclosed to you in the joining instruction.

What time shall I arrive at the training venue?

It is advised that you arrive at the venue at least 30 minutes before training starts.

What do I need to bring along for the training?

Training and writing materials such as notepad, pen, printed training slides, and practice materials will be provided. Also, we will make available a bag to put in these materials when you come for the training.  As such, you do not need to bring in any other thing.

Where is the training held?

We are located in Lagos. Nevertheless, we conduct training globally. To hold a training session within Nigeria but outside Lagos, we require a minimum class size of 12 delegates. However, to hold training outside Nigeria, we will have to agree on how it will work, but we will definitely need more than 12 people.

How do I register for the training as an individual?

To register for the training, on the training schedule above, look for the date you will like to attend the training, then click on “ENROL NOW”. Fill in your details, and we will get in contact with you. You can as well send us a mail, text message or call us to register for the training.

However, your registration is not complete if you do not make payment. You can pay in full or in installments. If you choose to pay in installments, you are expected to complete payment before the training starts.

How do I register for the training as an organisation?

To register your staff for the training, look for the training schedule above. On the date you will like to attend the training, click the “ENROL NOW” button.

Fill in your details, and we will get in contact you. You can as well send us a mail, text message or call us to register for the training. In addition, you can send a purchase order to confirm that your delegates will be available.

Is the PMP exam included in the training fee?

No, it is not. At this point, it is important to note that, the only organisation responsible for administering the PMP examination is the Project Management Institute (PMI). Do you give discounts?

Considering how much we charge and what the fee covers (Please, check ‘what is included in the fee’), our fees are already fully discounted. However, if you have up to 5 people, a discount may apply.

Can I pay for the PMP classroom training in installment?

Yes, you can. However, before the class starts, you are expected to make full payment.

When is the latest time to make payment?

The latest time to make payment is today. Our PMP training is on high demand and the only way that you can secure a space in the class is by making payment in installment or in full. What’s more? It will also grant you access to our pre-course material why gets you ready for the training.

What do I get before the training?

Once you make payment,

  • > We will grant you access to the pre-course which comprises of our e-Learning for study and exam practice
  • > We will also send you joining instruction. This will provide you with details of your course enrolment, directions to our training venue and every other information you need regarding the training.

What do I get after the training?

After the training, you will get;

  • > A Course completion certificate
  • > Access to our eLearning for study and exam practice
  • > Ongoing support

Do I get the PMBOK guide?

No. To gain access to the PMBOK guide, you have to order for it separately or register as a member of PMI to get access to a free personalized copy. However, during our training, you will be provided with a workbook and training slides that cover the PMBOK guide.

Does the training provide me with the 23/35 contact education hours required to be eligible for the CAPM/PMP exam?

Yes, the training qualifies as the 35 contact education hours required to be eligible for the exam. The training is for a minimum of 8 hours daily, and since it spans over four days, this will give a total of 32 hours. Moreover, upon registration for the classroom training, you will gain access to the eLearning before and after the training (the eLearning comes with a talking time of over 18 hours, end-of-section quizzes and over 2000 exam practice questions), you will end up studying for more than 80 hours in total).

Is the training enough for me to pass the exam?

Yes, the training is enough for you to pass the exam. When you make a financial commitment towards the course, we will share our pre-course with you. It consists of multimedia videos, practice questions, and quizzes which cover the entire PMP syllabus and will familiarise you with the concept, terminologies, definitions, etc. in project management that will be taught in class. With this, you can study before and after the course. If at any point during your pre-course study, you have any questions, you can reach out to us and we will be happy to help.

 

During the training, we will give you printed training slides so that you can easily follow the training. Our trainers do not just read PowerPoint slides. They make the training engaging by making use of flip charts and whiteboard to explain each concept. Besides this, delegates engage in group exercises and activities to practice what they have been taught. We believe in “Learning by doing” and we strongly believe in this quote by Benjamin Franklin “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.

 

In the course of the training, our instructors are ever-ready to answer your questions. These questions could come from your industry-specific or organisation-specific scenarios, personal studies using the e-Learning, or what is being taught in class. Who will be my instructor?

Our instructors are project managers with vast experience in imparting knowledge. What kind of certificate will I get from Harrybaker after the PMP® training?

You will get a course completion certificate.

When can I sit my PMP exam with PMI?

It is advised that you sit your exam within two months after your training. This would allow time for revision with the eLearning videos, quizzes, and practice questions. However, if you are not ready to sit your exam within that time-frame, it is up to you schedule your exam to a later date. Our eLearning for post-course study is available to you for up to 90 days after the classroom training.

What kind of certificate will I get from the PMP coordinating body?

If successful in the exam, you will get both the electronic and the hard copy of your certificate from PMI (PMP coordinating body).

What do I need to bring along to the training venue?

You don’t need to bring anything. We provide training and writing materials such as notepad, pen, printed training slides, etc. In addition, we will give you a bag where you can put the training materials and other items.

Can I come to your office to make inquiries?

We are ever-ready to answer your specific questions through various platforms such as phone calls, text messages, WhatsApp chat, online chat, mail, and even skype; as such, you do not have to come to our office to make inquiries. However, If you must come over, then, you can come any day of the week.

NOTE: If you want to come on a weekend, you need to inform us in advance. This is to ensure someone is available to attend to you, we do not work on weekends.

Can I miss a class?

We do not advise you to miss classes. However, if due to some unavoidable circumstances you miss a class, we have got you covered. The eLearning covers the entire PMP syllabus and is sufficient to cover the classroom sections you missed. Also, our trainers will be available to attend to your questions and also put you through the sections you missed, provided you agree a time with them.
