What is Management of Risk (M_o_R)?

Management of Risk is one aspect of internal business control. The course is also referred to as Enterprise Risk Management (ERM). M_o_R which is short for Management of Risk is a risk management approach that considers risk from different perspectives or views within an organisation. These perspectives are usually tailored to meet the needs of different organisational levels i.e. strategic, programme, project and operational.

Management of Risk (M_o_R) defines risks as a set of event which maybe uncertain, but when they occur, they have an impact on the achievement of objectives or expected results. A risk is also seen as a threat, sometimes organisations refer to it as a perceived threat. Risks or threats usually have a negative impact on the expected results or objectives.

The course is structured around, and part of, the best practice portfolio published by ALEXOS.
The composition of the course focuses on considering risk from a number of different perspectives from within an organisation. Perspectives from operational, strategic, programme, and project departments are looked at in close detail in terms of how to both understand how risk affects these areas, and in turn managing risk in ways appropriate to these departments, as well as an organisation as a whole.

Furthermore, the Management of Risk (M_o_R) programme is an on-going one, so regardless of whether it’s prospective students planning on participating in the entry level foundation course with a view to a career in risk management, or existing professionals undertaking essential refresher and practitioner courses, HARRYBAKER caters for both.
