What is MoP®?

The word MoP® is an acronym for Management of Portfolio, it is a management course that combines the programming aspect of MSP® and the project management methodologies of PRINCE2®. It is structured to focus on the effective coordination or management of existing processes such as strategic planning, investment assessment and programme and project management.

Although it takes from MSP® and PRINCE2®, it does not go into deeper details of programmes or project management. However, it presents programs and project management from a strategic perspective, coordinating processes and giving an overview of changes and how they can be managed on a day to day basis.

By definition, MoP® is a well-structured course of study that has to do with the coordination of existing strategic processes and decisions that create an enabling environment for changes within an organization and the regular day-to-day businesses of the same organization.

It highlights all the activities of change that occurs, the content of the portfolio, the cost and the risks involved, the impact of these changes on the day to day business activities etc.

MoP® Qualification

The course features two major qualifications through which the methodology and processes can be taught by a certified professional trainer as we have at the Harrybaker Training Institute and also learned by individuals who desire to become MoP® certified.

MoP® Foundation Qualification

The MoP Foundation certification confirms that you have sufficient knowledge and understanding to work as an informed member of a Portfolio Office or in a range of portfolio management roles. The Foundation certification is also a pre-requisite for the Practitioner certification.

 

MoP® Practitioner Qualification

The Practitioner certification confirms whether you have achieved sufficient understanding of how to apply and tailor the MoP guidance and to analyse portfolio data, documentation and roles in relation to a scenario situation.

MoP® Foundation

Prerequisites

  • There are no formal prerequisites. However, you are advised to receive training or self-study before taking the exam

Examination Format

  • •   Multiple choice questions
  • •   50 questions per paper
  • •   25 marks required to pass (out of 50 marks available) – 50%
  • •   40 minutes’ duration
  • •   Closed book.

MoP® Practitioner Examination

Prerequisites

  • To sit the MoP® Practitioner examination, individuals must hold a current MoP® Foundation certificate.

Examination Format

  • •   Objective testing
  • •    Four questions per paper with 20 marks available per question – all question items will be worth one mark, making the total   number of marks available per paper 80
  • •   40 marks required (out of 80 available) to pass – 50%.
  • •   Two-and-a-half hours’ duration
  • •   Open book exam. Only the official printed hard copy of the Management of Portfolios guide is allowed

Certification Expiry Date

The MoP® Practitioner certification does not have an expiry date.

MoP® Accreditation

Harrybaker Training Institute is an Accredited Training Organization to conduct the MoP® training and examination for individuals and organizations. Harrybaker Training Institute is Accredited by AXELOS, and PeopleCert, the licensed exam Institute.

What is the MoP® training (classroom) plus exam about?

The MoP® training plus exam is an instructor-led classroom training after which you will sit the MoP® exam(s).

How does the training plus exam work for each level?

Typically the MoP® Foundation and Practitioner class last for 5 days altogether.

The MoP® Foundation lasts for the first 3 days after which you will sit the Foundation exam on the 4th day.

On the other hand, the MoP®Practitioner lasts for 2 days. The class will start on the 4th day after the Foundation exam. On the 5th day, you will sit the Practitioner exam.

However, if you see the need to brush up on your knowledge in MoP® Foundation, you can join the MoP® class from the 1st day.

NOTE: If you are not ready to sit the exam at the designated time after the training, you can defer your exam to a later date. Furthermore, you need to notify us at least three working days before your proposed exam date.

How often is the MoP® training held?

How do I register for the training as an individual?

To register for the training,  find the date you will like to attend the training on the training schedule above, then click on “ENROL NOW”. Fill in your details, and we will get in touch with you. You can also send us a mail, text message or call us to register for the training.

NOTE: your registration is not complete if you do not make payment. You can pay in full or in installments.

If you choose to pay in installments, you are required to complete payment before the training starts.

How do I register for the training as an organisation?

To register members of your staff for the training, look for the training schedule above. On the date you will like to attend the training, click the “ENROL NOW” button.

Fill in your details, and we will get in contact you. You can as well send us a mail, text message, or call us to register for the training. In addition, you can send a purchase order to confirm that your delegates will be available.

Do you give discounts?

Our fees are already fully discounted, considering how much we charge and what the fee covers (Please, check ‘what does the fee cover?’), However, if you have up to 5 people, a discount may apply.

Can I pay for the training in installments?

Yes, you can. However, you are required to complete your payment before the training starts so that we can book the exam for you.

When is the latest time to make payment?

The latest time to make payment is today! Making a financial commitment is the only way to secure a space in any of our classes. Upon making payment, we will grant you access to our MoP® pre-course; this is to enable you to study and practice in preparation for the class.

Can I miss a class?

We do not encourage our delegates to miss classes. However, If due to some unavoidable circumstances you miss a class, we have got you covered. Our trainers will be available to respond to your questions and put you through the sections you missed, provided you agree a time with the trainer.

What kind of certificate will I get from Harrybaker after the MoP® training?

You will get a course completion certificate.

What will I learn if I take the MoP® course?

When does the training start each day?

The training starts at 8.30 am each day. If there is a change in the timing, we will inform you in the joining instruction.

When does the training end each day?

The training ends at 5.00 pm each day. If there is a change, we will inform you in the joining instruction.

What time shall I arrive at the training venue?

We advise that you arrive at the venue at least 30 minutes before training starts.

What do I need to bring along to the training venue?

We provide training and writing materials such as notepad, pen, printed training slides, etc. In addition, you will get a bag in which you can put the training materials and other items. As a result, you do not have to bring any other thing.

Where do you hold the training?

We conduct training globally. However, our physical location is in Lagos. To hold a training session outside Lagos (within Nigeria), we require a minimum of 12 people. To conduct training outside Nigeria, we will have to agree on how it will work. Please note conducting a training outside Nigeria would definitely require more than 12 people.

What kind of certificate will I get from the coordinating body?

If successful in the exam, you will get an electronic certificate from the coordinating body.

Can I get a document to help me get approval from my organisation?

Yes you can. At your request, we can provide you with documents such as; invoice, course enrolment letter, registration letter, etc. to fast-track the course registration process.

Which global exam does the training and exam fee cover?

The training fee covers the MoP® Foundation and/or Practitioner exam.

Do you guide on exam registration?

We will book the exam for you. We are accredited by AXELOS and Peoplecert to conduct the MoP® training and exam.

What do I get before the training?

Once you make payment;
We will grant you access to our pre-course which you can study prior to the course start date.

Also, we will send you joining instruction which confirms your enrolment for the course. Apart from that, the joining instruction contains every other thing you need to know about the training.

Will I get an official MoP® manual?

No. To get your own copy of the MoP® manual, you will have to buy it separately.

Is the training enough for me to pass the exam?

Yes, the training is enough to pass the exam. We structured our training in a unique way to help you understand the course.

Firstly, we will share with you our pre-course (before the training). The pre-course familiarises you with the definitions, concepts, terminologies used in MoP® to prepare you adequately for the class.

Secondly, you will attend our instructor-led classroom training which covers entire MoP® syllabus. During the training, we will give you printed training slides so that you can know where we are at any given point. We cherish “Learning by doing” and we strongly believe in this quote by Benjamin Franklin “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.” As such, you will engage in group activities to put what you have learned to practice.

Moreover, our trainers avoid ‘death by PowerPoint’ by making use of flip charts and whiteboard to explain each concept. Also, they are ever-ready to answer your questions that may arise from your industry-specific or organization-specific scenarios, personal studies using the e-Learning, or what is being taught in class. Again, they can answer your questions because they are knowledgeable and experienced.

However, if after the training you are not comfortable sitting your exam, you can elect to defer it to a later date. All you have to do is to give us a notice of at least three days before your preferred exam date.

The exam only option is for those who want to sit the MoP® exam only.

How does the exam only option work?

Once payment is made for the exam only, we will book the exam for you.

What are the levels of the exam?

The exam levels are:

How do I register for the exam?

You do not need to worry about the exam booking. We’ll book your exam once you make payment.

However, we need up to three days prior notice before the date you want to sit your exam. This is to enable us to book your exam.

Will I get any notification from the exam body?

Yes. Once your exam is booked, you’ll receive a mail from the exam institute. The mail will notify you of your exam booking. Upon the receipt of this notification, you are required to create an account with the Exam Institute by filling in some details such as full name, date of birth, place of work and address.

Are there prerequisites for taking the exam?

There are no formal requirements for sitting the MoP® Foundation exam, but sitting the MoP® Practitioner exam has a requirement.

What happens after payment?

Once we receive your payment, we will book the exam for your preferred date.

What does the exam fee cover?

How soon can I sit my exam after making payment?

You can sit the exam whenever you choose provided you are well prepared for it. However, we’ll need up to three working days advance notice before the date you want to sit your exam. This is to enable us to book your exam.

What are the available exam modes?

Paper-based exam at our office

You can sit for a paper-based exam at our office. We usually advise that our delegates take this route because the internet connection in Nigeria generally is epileptic. As a result, you can’t be too sure when it will go off; and that will mean you might not be able to continue your exam.

Online exam

There are two options here. The first is the online exam at our office. You’ll be allowed to use our computer for the exam and an invigilator will be around to monitor the exam. However, because of the poor internet connectivity in Nigeria, we’ll not be held responsible for ANY interruptions when writing your online exam.

The second is the proctored online exam. Here, you can take the exam online at any location with a computer that is connected to reliable internet and has a functional webcam and microphone.

The proctored online exam comes at an extra fee. Once your exam is booked, you have 90 days to take your exam. You must schedule your exam at least 2 hours before the time you intend taking the exam.

How soon will I get my result?

Paper-based exam: After the exam, you will get your Foundation provisional result immediately after your exam. For the Practitioner, you will get your result as soon as we scan and upload it to the exam institute’s exam marking system. This takes is with a day of sitting the exam

Computer-based exam at our office: After the exam, you will get the provisional result immediately.

Proctored exam: Immediately after the exam, you will get the provisional result.

How soon do I get my certificate from the examination institute?

You will get your certificate within a week of sitting the exam.

What kind of certificate will I get?

You will get an electronic certificate which will be made available on your account with the exam institute.

What do I need to bring with me for the exam?

To sit the exam, you need to bring a valid means of I.D. The acceptable ID include: International Passport, Voter’s card, Driver’s License and National I.D card. We will provide you with writing materials.

Which days and time can I sit my exam?

You can sit the exam any day from Monday to Saturday. Please, note that we need a prior notice of up to three days before your proposed exam date.

What time shall I arrive at the exam venue?

We advise you get to the venue 30 minutes before your exam.

How do I make payment for any of the learning options?
