What is the Lean Six Sigma training and exam about?

The Lean Six Sigma training and exam is an instructor-led classroom training that covers Lean Six Sigma Yellow, Green, and Black belts respectively. After the training, you will then sit the exam.

Can I take the Lean Six Sigma training alone?

Yes, you can take the training alone. However, this will not include the Lean Six Sigma exam.

What will I learn if I take Lean Six Sigma course?

What you will learn is detailed in the syllabi for the different Lean Six Sigma belts. Please, visit our ‘Lean Six Sigma Resources’ page to learn more.

How does the Lean Six Sigma training and exam work for each belt?

The training lasts for a specified number of days, depending on the Lean Six Sigma belt you opt for.

Yellow belt training: This is a 2-day training after which you sit the exam.
Green belt training: This is a 6-day training after which you sit the exam.
Black belt training: This is a 6-day training after which you sit the exam.

Please note that the training can be extended for organisations based on training needs.

Which global exam will I sit?

You will sit either the Lean Six Sigma (LSSA) or International Association for Six Sigma Certification (IASSC) exam. We do not register candidates for American Society for Quality (ASQ’s) exam.

When will I sit my Lean Six Sigma exam?

Lean Six Sigma Academy (LSSA)

Green belt exam: You’ll sit the exam on the seventh day.

Black belt exam: You’ll sit the exam on the seventh day.

Please note that you can defer your exam if you are not ready to take it immediately after the training. You will have to give us at least three days prior notice before your preferred exam date so that we can book your exam.

International Association for Six Sigma Certification (IASSC)

IASSC’s Lean Six Sigma exam is an online-proctored exam that you can take from any location. We will give you an exam voucher which you will use to schedule your exam. We will not be responsible for your exam sitting process; as you can sit the exam anytime and anywhere provided your exam voucher is still valid.

American Society for Quality (ASQ)

Unlike LSSA and IASSC’s exams, we do not register candidates for ASQ’s exam. Therefore, candidates who opt for ASQ’s exam will take responsibility for the registration and all exam cost. Please, click here to learn more about ASQ’s exam.

What time does the training start each day?

The training commences at 8.30 a.m each day. If there’s a change, we will communicate it to you in the joining instruction.

Pre-class

Pre-course learning and assignment: Understanding Lean Six Sigma or passing the exam does not happen by chance. Secondly, Harrybaker Training is accredited by LSSA (through APMG, the exam institute) and IASSC to conduct training and exam. As a result, you have the option to sit the Lean Six Sigma exam with us.

ASQ’s exams are handled by Prometric. No training organisation anywhere in the world can conduct ASQ’s exam.

In summary, the exam only option means that you can sit either LSSA or IASSC Lean Six Sigma exam without attending training.

Which Lean Six Sigma qualification body’s exam will I sit?

As an accredited training organisation, you can sit either the LSSA or the IASSC Lean Six Sigma exam.

Which Lean Six Sigma qualification belt can I sit?

The exam levels or belts are:

  • Green belt
  • Black belt

You can sit any exam belt, depending on what you want to achieve.

How do I register for the Lean Six Sigma exam?

For LSSA, you do not need to worry about the exam registration or booking. We’ll book your exam once you make payment. However, we’ll need up to three days prior notice before the date you want to sit your exam. This is to enable us to book your exam.

For IASSC, we will give you an exam voucher. Thereafter, you will use the exam voucher to schedule your exam.

Will I get any notification from the Lean Six Sigma exam body?

For LSSA, Yes. Once we book your exam, you’ll receive a mail from the exam institute (APMG). The mail will notify you of your exam booking. Also, you will need to create a profile and fill in some details such as your full name, date of birth, place of work and address.

For IASSC, Yes. Once we give you the exam voucher, you will receive a mail from IASSC. The mail will contain all the information you need to schedule your exam.

Are there pre-requisites for taking the Lean Six Sigma exam?

There are no pre-requisites for taking any exam belt.

This depends on the Lean Six Sigma qualification body.

LSSA

For LSSA’s exam, you can sit a paper-based exam, an online exam or an online-proctored exam. Each exam mode is explained below:

Paper-based exam at our office 

You can sit for a paper-based exam at our office. We advise people to take the paper-based exam. The reason for this is because of the poor internet connection we have in Nigeria.

Online exam at our office

Here, we’ll allow you to use our computer for the exam and an invigilator will be around to monitor the exam. However, because of the poor internet connectivity in Nigeria, we’ll not be held responsible for ANY interruptions when writing your online exam.

Online-proctored exam 

Here, you can take the exam online at your location, if you cannot come to our office. However, you’ll be paying an additional fee for the online invigilation.

IASSC

On the other hand, for IASSC’s exam, the only available exam mode is an online-proctored exam.

Online-proctored exam 

Here, you will take the exam online at your location. The exam is online-proctored. In other words, there will be an online invigilator that will monitor the exam. We will not be responsible for your exam sitting process; as you can sit the exam anytime and anywhere provided your exam voucher is still valid.

For both LSSA’s and IASSC’s online exams, you need to have a reliable internet connection. In addition, you need a personal computer that has a microphone, a speaker, and a webcam.

When will I get my Lean Six Sigma result?

For LSSA, the provisional result is gotten within 24 hours.

For IASSC, the provisional result is gotten after 72 hours.

When will I get my certificate from the Lean Six Sigma certification body?

You will get your certificate within a week from sitting the exam.

What kind of certificate will I get from the Lean Six Sigma certification body?

You will get an electronic certificate which will be made available on your account with the exam institute.

What do I need to bring for the Lean Six Sigma exam?

To sit the exam, you need to bring a valid means of identification (I.D). The acceptable IDs include International Passport, Voter’s card, Driver’s License, and National I.D card. We will provide you with writing materials.

Which days and time can I sit my exam?

You can sit the exam any day of the week.

For LSSA, we need prior notice of up to three days before your exam date. This is to enable us to book your exam with the exam institute.

For IASSC, you can sit your exam any day, anytime and anywhere. IASSC’s exam is a proctored-online exam.

Firstly, the Lean Six Sigma qualification is not owned by any entity. As a result, many bodies or associations certify people. Although several qualification bodies exist, the popular ones are Lean Six Sigma Academy (LSSA), International Association for Six Sigma Certification (IASSC) and American Society for Quality (ASQ). These bodies accredit training providers for Lean Six Sigma. LSSA and IASSC accredit training providers to conduct both training and exam. ASQ accredits training providers, but they do not allow them to conduct the ASQ exam.

What is the PRINCE2® training (classroom) plus exam about?

The PRINCE2® training plus exam is an instructor-led classroom training after which you will sit the PRINCE2® exam(s).

How does the training plus exam work for each level?

Typically the PRINCE2® Foundation and Practitioner class lasts for 5 days altogether.

The PRINCE2® Foundation lasts for the first 3 days after which, on the 4th day, you will sit the Foundation exam.

PRINCE2® Practitioner last for 2 days. The class will start on the 4th day, after the Foundation exam then extend to the 5th day. On the 5th day, you will sit the Practitioner exam. However, if you see the need to brush up on your knowledge in PRINCE2® Foundation, you can join the PRINCE2® class from the 1st day.

NOTE: If you are not ready to sit the exam at the designated time after the training, you can defer your exam to a later date. However, when you are ready to take the exam, you need to notify us at least three working days before your proposed exam date.

What do I need to bring along to the training venue?

Where do you hold the training?

We conduct trainings globally. However, our physical location is Lagos. To hold a training session outside Lagos (within Nigeria), we require a minimum of 12 people. To conduct trainings outside Nigeria, we will have to agree on how it will work. Bear in mind that we would definitely require more than 12 people.

Who will be my instructor?

Our instructors have several years of experience as trainers and as professionals. They understand the PRINCE2® framework and how it applies to different organisations. It will interest you to know that the trainer who will be conducting the next PRINCE2® training has been managing projects for over 12 years.

Is the training enough for me to pass the exam?

Yes it is. We structured our training in a unique way to help you understand the course. As such, the training process is in three phases.

Firstly, we will share with you our pre-course (before the training). The pre-course familiarises you with the definitions, concepts, terminologies used in PRINCE2® to prepare you adequately for the class.

Secondly, you will attend our instructor-led classroom training which covers entire PRINCE2® syllabus. During the training, we will give you printed training slides so that you can know where we are at any given point. We cherish “Learning by doing” and we strongly believe in this quote by Benjamin Franklin “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.” As such, you will engage in group activities to put what you have learned to practice.

Moreover, our trainers avoid ‘death by PowerPoint’ by making use of flip charts and whiteboard to explain each concept. Also, they are ever-ready to answer your questions that may arise from your industry-specific or organisation-specific scenarios, personal studies using the e-Learning, or what is being taught in class. How do I access the PRINCE2® eLearning?

It is only accessible online. As such, you need internet connection. The advantage is that it can be accessed from any locations, and on different devices (PC, tablet, phone, etc.).

How do I subscribe for the eLearning?

Subscribing only requires you to make payment. Once we confirm your payment, you will be sent your login details which gives you access to our learning portal.

Can I pay for the PRINCE2® eLearning access in instalment?

Yes, you can make payment in installment. However, access to the eLearning will not be granted until full payment is made.

No, the examination fee is not included.

What do I do if I am unable to access the eLearning content?

Although this happens on a rare case, do not hesitate to send us a mail or call us should you find it difficult to login or any other issue for that matter.

After completing the eLearning course, will I get a course completion certificate?

Yes, you will get a course completion certificate at the successful completion of the eLearning.

What kind of certificate will I get from Harrybaker after the PRINCE2® course?

You will get a course completion certificate.

How will I receive my course completion certificate?

You will receive your course completion certificate via mail. Should you want a hard-copy, you can come to our office to pick it up.

Is the eLearning enough to prepare for the exam?

Emphatically, yes! As a matter of fact, we’ve had delegates who used the eLearning alone to prepare for the exam and actually passed.

Self-paced:

Truth is, everybody learns at different paces. With our eLearning, you can learn at your pace and location. As in the case of the traditional classroom training, information is expected to be absorbed too quickly. Using our eLearning allows for information absorption without being pushed ahead too quickly, as you can pause, stop, play and even go through the contents over again.

Better assimilation:

One great advantage of self-pacing is that, it greatly improves memory performance, particularly when a learner allocates more time to the more difficult aspect of the material. What are the advantages of classroom over eLearning?

In all, I can only identify two advantages which are:
Immediate feedback: if you attend the classroom training, you can ask the instructor a question and get an immediate feedback. However, we have provided a remedy to this in form of our ‘Tutor support’. This is to say that you can ask your questions via mail and our instructors will provide you with feedback within a reasonable time period (within 2 working days).

Interaction with others: Another thing you can miss when you opt for the eLearning is interaction with other delegates..

Do you guide on exam registration?

Yes, as an Accredited Training Organisation, we conduct both training and exam. You can sit you exam with us , while we handle your exam booking. The only thing you need to do is to sit the exam.

Can I cancel or change my eLearning subscription?

No, this is not allowed.

What does exam only option mean?

The exam only option is for those who want to sit the PRINCE2® exam only. It does not include classroom training.

How does the exam only option work?

Once payment is made for the exam only, we’ll grant you access to our self-paced eLearning (which is accessible via our online learning portal) for 7 days after which you can sit your exam at your own preferred date.

Our eLearning contains audio (scripted by our Lead trainer) and visual (which illustrates what is being said by the instructor with animated graphics and images – this aids understanding as you can relate to what is being said. It is highly engaging, as it is not someone reading over slides.), quizzes (which helps to test your understanding of the concepts in each of the sections covered) and exam practice questions (that will help you prepare for the exam).

The eLearning covers the entire PRINCE2® syllabus. The eLearning can be accessed from any part of the world, on any device; be it mobile, tab or PC.

How do I book for the exam?

You do not need to worry about the exam booking. We’ll book your exam once you make payment.

However, we need up to three days prior notice before the date you want to sit your exam. This is to enable us book your exam.

How do I register for the exam?

Will I get any notification from the exam body?

Yes. Once your exam is booked, you’ll receive a mail from the exam institute. The mail will notify you of your exam booking. Upon the receipt of this notification, you are required to create an account with the Exam Institute by filling in some details such as full name, date of birth, place of work and address.

Are there prerequisites for taking the exam?

There are no formal requirements for sitting the PRINCE2® Foundation exam, but sitting the PRINCE2® Practitioner exam has a requirement.

What happens after payment?

Once we receive your payment, we will grant you access to PRINCE2® self-paced eLearning for 7 days. It is up to you to decide when you want to sit the exam.

How soon can I sit my exam after making payment?

You can sit the exam whenever you choose provided you are well prepared for it. However, we’ll need up to three working-days advance notice before the date you want to sit your exam. This is to enable us book your exam.

What are the available exam modes?

Paper-based exam at our office

You can sit a paper-based exam at our office. Truth is; most people who take the exam only with us, we advise them to take the paper based exam because of the environment we found ourselves. As you know, our internet connection in Nigeria generally is epileptic, as you can’t be too sure when it will go off; and that will mean you might not be able to continue your exam. So we advise people to take the paper-based which is less risky.

Online exam

There are two options here.The first is the online exam at our office. You’ll be allowed to use our computer for the exam and an invigilator will be around to monitor the exam. However, because of the poor internet connectivity in Nigeria, we’ll not be held responsible for ANY interruptions when writing your online exam.

The second is the proctored online exam. Here, you can take the exam online at any location with a computer that is connected to a reliable internet, and has a functional webcam and microphone.

However, you’ll be paying ($30) extra as a fee for the online invigilator. Once your exam is booked, you have 90 days to take your exam. You must schedule your exam at least 2 hours before the time you intend taking the exam.

How soon will I get my result?

Paper-based exam: After the exam, you will get your Foundation provisional result immediately after your exam. For the Practitioner, you will get your result as soon we scan and upload it to the exam institute’s exam marking system. This takes is with a day of sitting the exam

Computer-based exam at our office: After the exam, you will get the provisional result immediately.

Proctored exam: Immediately after the exam, you will get the provisional result.

How soon do I get my certificate from the examination institute?

You will get your certificate within a week of sitting the exam.

What kind of certificate will I get?

You will get an electronic certificate which will be made available on your account with the exam institute.

What do I need to bring with me for the exam?

To sit the exam, you need to bring a valid means of I.D. The acceptable ID include: International Passport, Voter’s card, Driver’s License and National I.D card. We will provide you with writing materials.

Which days and time can I sit my exam?

You can sit the exam any day from Monday to Saturday. Please, note that we need a prior notice of up to three days before your exam date. This is to enable us book your exam with the exam institute.

What time shall I arrive at the exam venue?

This is flexible based on the time you want to sit the exam. We advise you get to the venue 30 minutes before your exam.
