About ITIL Exam in Nigeria

ITIL Exam - overview

ITIL Exams is the final step that guarantees whether or not an individual will become ITIL Certified or not. In other words, ITIL professional are those individuals who have successfully passed the certification exams at one level or the other.

The ITIL Exams is just a compound term for the various exams that the ITIL Course offers, i.e. the ITIL Exams, stands for ITIL Foundation exam, ITIL Practitioner Exam, etc.

Sitting for any of the exams requires that prospective candidates meet some certain eligibility criteria. Except for the ITIL Foundation Exam that does not have any pre-registration requirements, the eligibility criteria range from having some certificates to gaining some credit units and having some work experience for a particular period of time.

What is included

About ITIL

About the course

The ITIL Course is a creative and intensive program of study that is structured to inform its students on the basics of the ITIL Framework, its component, how it can be applied for IT service management and also its numerous benefits both for individuals and organizations.

ITIL Course is further classified into modules which are also referred to as courses because each of them is a program of study that educates students on a particular aspect of the ITIL Framework. These modules or courses are as listed below:

  • ITIL Foundation Course
  • ITIL Practitioner Course
  • ITIL Intermediate course

This is further classified into two streams which are: Service Lifecycle stream and the                                Capability Stream.

Service Lifecycle stream offers the following as individual courses:

  • ITIL Service Strategy
  • ITIL Service Design
  • ITIL Service Transition
  • ITIL Service Operation
  • ITIL Continual Service Improvement.

The Capability stream offers the following as individual courses:

  • Operational Support and Analysis (OSA)
  • Planning, Protection, and Optimization (PPO)
  • Release, Control, and Validation (RCV)
  • Service Offerings and Agreements (SOA).
  • ITIL MALC

Exam Preparation

Like every other exam, Candidates should be aware that it is not enough to register for the exam, effort must be made towards preparation in order to be successful in the examination.

Candidates can prepare for the ITIL through the following means:

  • ITIL Training
  • Self – study

ITIL Training

This has to do with registering with an Accredited Training Organization (ATO) like Harrybaker Training Institute for well-directed training sessions according to the licensed syllabus which is targeted not just towards candidates passing exams, but also the full understanding of the ITIL Framework.

Proper ITIL Training sessions are conducted by a certified trainer with enough experience to effectively educate candidates on the ITIL Methodology and also guide them through the ITIL Exam format and practice questions. This is one sure way of preparing for the certification exams.

Self-study

As the name implies, this has to do with engaging in the personal study of the ITIL Methodology other than subscribing for the Classroom training. The self-study platform is a great alternative for the ITIL training in a classroom.

This is usually done by the following categories of people:

  • Candidates that cannot travel a long distance to a training institute.
  • Candidates who run a busy schedule and do not have the time to attend a classroom training
  • Candidates who prefer to learn on their own than learning from a certified ITIL trainer
  • Candidates who want to control their learning pace. i.e self-paced learning. etc.

However, candidates who engage in self-study can be a little disadvantaged as regards information on the examination that the trainer passes across to the candidates during the Classroom training. The solution to this likely disadvantage is getting a standard ITIL eLearning like the one we offer at Harrybaker Training Institute.

Self-study is done by the following means:

  • Access to the ITIL eLearning platform
  • ITIL Manuals.

We recommend that candidates who want to self-study register for the ITIL Exam with us so they can get a 3-day free access to our eLearning platform or they purchase the access for 180 days.

We boast of our ITIL eLearning platform which can be gotten offline or online because of its richness and its ability to equip candidates for the ITIL Exam. It will interest you to know that we have not recorded any failure from any of our candidates that used our ITIL eLearning to prepare

ITIL ExHow to sit the ITIL Exam

The ITIL Exam is taken either online or offline. However, the online method is not so advisable especially in Nigeria which cannot boast of uninterrupted power supply and a reliable internet connection.

The Online examination portal is so structured that it does not allow for any interruption during the exam, if this happens, the exam will be automatically ended and the candidates will lose out.

However, Candidates who insist on taking their ITIL Exam online will have to bear the cost of registering afresh in the case of any interruption during the exam.

The Offline which is Paper-based is more advisable because it cannot be affected by epileptic power supply or poor internet connection. It is not disadvantaged by the delay in results as some might think.

The Paper-based exam is written in an accredited exam center like Harrybaker Training Institute at a specific date and time convenient for the candidate. I.e. the candidate gets to choose when he/she wants to write the exams.
NB: Candidates should notify us of their preferred date and time at least two days before the date, so we can make adequate preparations. Please check the tab on “how it works” for more details.

Candidates will get their result immediately after the examination as it will be marked by a standby scanner on-ground.
The original certificate will be sent two weeks after the exams.
